We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Tax Compliance Manager to lead and execute all tax matters in Brazil. The Tax Compliance Manager will report to the Lead Company Accounting Manager and will be based in Curitiba, Brazil. A team of tax specialists (one Direct Tax Specialist, and three Indirect Tax Specialists) will report to this role.
This role uniquely combines strategic leadership with operational responsibility and tax accountability in Brazil. The ideal candidate must be a licensed accountant (Contador) and play a dual role: managing the tax compliance team at a senior level (Direct and Indirect Tax) while also actively participating in the preparation and calculation of Direct Tax.
This position requires in-depth knowledge of Brazilian tax regulations, experience in regulatory change management (particularly the Brazilian Tax Reform and Pillar 2 implementation), and fluency in English. The successful candidate will drive compliance, ensure readiness for global tax initiatives, and lead a high performing team in a complex and evolving tax landscape.
Job Description:
This position is responsible for all Brazilian entities and the job description below is illustrative but not limiting to:
Tax Strategy & Leadership:
- Lead the tax function for all Brazilian entities, ensuring full compliance and alignment with business goals;
- Drive strategy and implementation plans for the Brazilian Tax Reform, OECD Pillar 2, and Transfer Pricing updates;
- Actively monitor and analyze tax legislative changes and their impact on operations;
- Coordinate with Global and Regional tax to align with international frameworks and reporting;
- Organize, plan, and structure the tax department to control activities, deadlines, and Information delivery.
Operational Execution:
- Perform calculation of Income Tax return and international taxes, prepare ECF and manage the review with external consultancy;
- Validate workpapers and tax calculations for indirect taxes (ICMS, PIS/COFINS, ISS, IPI, Sped Contribution, REINF etc.). and support the review of the external consultancy;
- Perform tax accounting and reporting of all tax matters, including compliance risks provisions, Pillar 2 provisions, Transfer Pricing adjustments and documentation, including Receita TP & Pillar 2 audit inquiry responses;
- Support the review in coordination with internal teams and external consultants;
- Ensure proper tax positions are reflected in returns and accounting books;
- Tax planning support to GAR (in reviewing contract, pulling data for routine tasks, M&A, and other projects, support review on cash/debt/dividend planning and execution)
Compliance & Controls:
Guarantee accurate and timely filing of direct and indirect tax returns.
Support GTAX with tax audits, M&A, inspections and resolutions with tax authorities.
Support Company Accounting Manager for Group and local Statutory audit
Identify risks and ensure strong internal tax controls, including corporate compliance.
People & Process Management:
- Lead the local tax team and prepare backup for the position;
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging technology and automation;
- Collaborate with Service Centers to transfer transactional activities when feasible;
- Support projects that impact Brazil on tax compliances;
- Support Pillar 2 implementations. Tasks may include: functional analysis, CPM/TNMM benchmarking, DEMPE narrative, run monthly QDMTT safe-harbour tests & file returns; flag if ETR < 15 %.
Education and Experience:
- Degree in Accounting (CRC registration required – Contador);
- Master Degree in Brazilian Taxes Preferred;
- Extensive expertise in Brazilian tax law and regulations (direct and indirect) and deferred taxes;
- Strong tax accounting background;
- Knowledge in Pillar 2, Transfer Pricing and Tax Reform Preferred.
Must-have skills:
- Advanced knowledge of SAP ERP, Microsoft Office, and tax compliance systems;
- Leadership: Ability to lead and execute at both strategic and operational levels;
- Process improvement and automation mindset;
- Strong communication skills. The ability to listen and provide a deep level of business insight when exercising a judgement on specific issues regarding financial statements to make decisions in the interest of the Company. The ability to communicate, persuade and defend positions in front of strong stakeholders in a multicultural environment;
- Self-starter with problem-solving drive.
Nice-to-have Skills:
- Knowledge in IFRS;
- Experience leading tax transformation projects;
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Tax, with proven strategic and operational responsibilities;
- Experience in multinational environments and/or Big 4 is a strong plus.
Language Skills:
Portuguese (native level);
English (fluent, written and spoken);
Spanish (intermediate level preferred).
Additional Information:
Traveling Requirement: Occasional domestic travel in Brazil and international travel for regional/global tax meetings;
Hybrid work model at the office in Curitiba, Paraná.
