The Global Trade Manager - LATAM is part of Syensqo’s Global Trade Management organization and plays a critical role in ensuring the highest level of compliance with customs and international trade regulations across Latin America.
This position has a primary focus on Brazil, while also providing strategic oversight and guidance to other LATAM countries (such as Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Argentina), aligning all activities under Syensqo’s global trade governance framework.
The role drives operational excellence, supports duty optimization programs, strengthens risk management, and promotes agility and resilience across regional trade lanes.

Key Responsibilities
1. Compliance and Regulatory Management
•    Ensure full compliance with customs and trade laws across all LATAM countries, with strong focus on Brazil;
•    Stay up to date with regulatory developments in each country and anticipate potential changes impacting trade flows;
•    Represent the company before customs and other authorities, supporting audits, investigations, or certifications;
•    Implement and maintain robust internal controls to ensure adherence to Syensqo’s compliance and ethics standards;
•    Lead or support regional initiatives related to AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) certification, trusted trader, and other risk-based compliance programs.

2. Strategy, Policy Deployment and Governance
•    Deploy global and regional trade strategies, standards, and policies across LATAM.
•    Develop country-specific implementation plans ensuring local relevance within the global governance model;
•    Support the definition and execution of regional KPIs and dashboards for performance and compliance monitoring;
•    Participate in the design and deployment of regional process optimization and automation initiatives.

3. Customs Operations and Technical Expertise
•    Supervise and provide expert guidance on customs operations such as classification, valuation, origin determination, and preferential trade agreements;
•    Manage and optimize special regimes: RECOF, Free Trade Zones, duty drawback, temporary import/export, bonded warehouses, etc.;
•    Coordinate applications for licenses, permits, and financial guarantees (customs credit, VAT deferment, etc.);
•    Identify and execute duty-saving opportunities in alignment with global programs.

4. Regional and Cross-Functional Collaboration
•    Act as the key trade compliance point of contact for LATAM, ensuring alignment and knowledge sharing across countries;
•    Coordinate with internal stakeholders: Tax, Legal, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, and Industrial teams;
•    Manage and monitor the performance of external partners (customs brokers, consultants, freight forwarders);
•    Support cross-border projects ensuring consistent processes and documentation across all LATAM operations.

5. Leadership and People Development
•    Lead, coach, and develop the local Global Trade team in Brazil and provide functional guidance to counterparts across LATAM;
•    Define and monitor objectives, KPIs, and training needs for each team;
•    Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and compliance excellence;
•    Promote knowledge sharing and standardization across the region.

Education and Experience:
•    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, International Trade, Law, Supply Chain, or related fields;
•    Postgraduate studies in Customs Law or International Trade are a strong asset;
•    6+ years of experience in Global Trade and Customs operations, preferably with regional exposure across Latin America;
•    Proven experience with AEO programs and trusted trader certifications is highly valued.

Skills and Competencies:
•    Deep understanding of customs processes, trade regulations, and free trade agreements across LATAM;
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
•    Excellent communication abilities (verbal and written);
•    Hands-on, proactive, and able to operate autonomously in a matrix environment;
•    Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities;
•    Strategic mindset with ability to balance compliance, cost efficiency, and business agility.

Language Requirements:
•    Portuguese and English: mandatory;
•    Spanish: highly valued due to regional scope.
