We are looking for:

 

Production Superintendent  

  • Individual accountability for site HSE, Quality, Productivity, and Manufacturing Excellence objectives

  • Ensure all aspects/standards of the Responsible Care Safety Program are met

  • The Production Superintendent for Phosphine and Gases is the leader for the Phosphine and Gases Operations teams.

  • Direct reports for this position: 2 Phosphine Operations Engineers, 1 Phosphine Coordinator, 1 Gases Technical Specialist, 1 Cypure Operations Engineer, 1 Fumigation Operations Engineer.

  • Supports advancement initiatives in the areas of Safety, Environmental Protection, Zero Defect, and Operations Improvement through utilization of a continuous improvement culture.

  • Facilitates execution of select Site Key X’s and strategic plan initiatives to ensure the site meets its critical business objectives.       

  • Based at the Niagara Falls Site. Not eligible for routine work from home or remote location

  • Required to regularly be in production areas.

  • Infrequent travel, if any

  • Leads the Phosphine and Gases team and communicates expectations and standards, monitors performance, and takes corrective actions to address issues and ensure targets in the following areas are met: 

    1. HSE compliance

    2. Quality system requirements

    3. S&OP Plan   

    4. Cost and Productivity targets

  • Overall accountability for the development, progress and execution of the Phosphine Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Maximum Demonstrated Capacity (MDC) improvement plans

  • Responsible for the development, daily direction, guidance and mentorship of the Phosphine and Gases Operations Engineer's

  • Works with the Operations Superintendent to develop and execute internal training and skills assessment programs for Phosphine and Gases job classifications.

  • Accountable for the development of shutdown equipment preparation and start up plans for maintenance turnarounds in the Phosphine and Gases departments.

  • Liaise with various contractors and Maintenance to address Operations related concerns in the plant. Part of the Operations Gatekeepers for Maintenance planning and scheduling. Provides direction to the Phosphine Coordinator for equipment preparation and LOTO for Maintenance activities.

  • Responsible for directing troubleshooting efforts for daily issues within areas of responsibility. Drives the expectation that issues are addressed safely and in a timely fashion.

  • Responsible for working with the site's Engineering team to ensure long term improvement actions for areas of responsibility are addressed including ownership of vetting of projects design from an Operations perspective, required training and Operations acceptance of completed projects.

  • Works with the Operations Superintendent to create resourcing plans for areas of responsibility to ensure the team has the correct number of resources and skills to be successful.

  • Responsible for ensuring Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for areas of responsibility meet expectations and are up to date per requirements.

  • Responsible for ensuring training and development plans in place for direct reports.

  • Lead execution of incremental Operations improvements through the use of Area Improvement Teams (AIT)

  • Any other duties or projects as assigned by the Operations Manager.

  • Fill in as relief for Operations Manager, as necessary.  

 

You will bring: 

  • B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field

  • Professional Engineering License for Ontario Canada or eligible to obtain the license

  • Minimum of 8 years progressive experience in Operations at an Industrial Chemical Manufacturing  facility, Petrochemical processing operation or Nuclear Power Generation station.

  • Broad based experience interacting with production, maintenance and engineering departments.  Plant experience should be in a facility operated to world class standards in the areas of Process Safety, operation discipline and Safety, Health & Environment standards.

  • Must have strong organizational and facilitation skills

  • Must have excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Must have strong leadership competencies with a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams and drive improvements.

  • Demonstrated ability to convert strategy into implementation process.

  • Communicate effectively in written and oral formats with peers and others at varying levels within the organization. Present ideas well one-on-one, in small groups, and to larger audiences. Have the ability to convey messages and to influence others to take appropriate action.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Requires regular, dependable attendance and after hours support as needed.

 

You will get:

  • The  Canadian annual base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this new hire is: $105,000 to $131,000.  Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, such as skills, experience, qualifications, etc. and can ultimately be more or less than the posted salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives

  • 16 weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, according to local regulations
