Customer Technical Development Engineer (Battery)

We are looking for: 


  • One Customer Technical Development (CTD) engineer within Syensqo GBU Specialty polymer is expected to provide comprehensive technical support to our customers including battery cell manufacturers and separator film producers covering PVDF products as battery binder and separator coating materials. 


  • The CTD will work closely with Sales, Business Development, Global R&I and PAM to provide professional technical solutions for battery manufactures, solve on-site technical problems, translate customers’ unmet needs to development opportunities and support the innovative development and contribute to continuous business growth in China. 


We count on you for: 


  • To provide technical support to battery customers based on Syensqo’s PVDF material solution in a timely manner, including onsite and remote support for technical troubleshooting, customer technical seminars, delivering technical documents and test results, support customer audits, etc. 

  • Work closely with commercial teams on customer project development. Identify potential new opportunities with targeted customers and bridge technical communication between customers and internal team to translate the Voice of Customer to clear material CTQs, support R&I on the solution development, track customer evaluation progress and collect customer feedback. 

  • Track industry cutting-edge technologies and support market intelligence analysis through benchmarking studies related to PVDF materials in battery applications. Provide support for product iteration and market expansion. 

  • Summarize technical data, application cases and technical visit reports. 

  • Deliver technical training to internal stakeholders for material, application and technology.

You will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Material Science, Electrochemical Engineering or related majors, with solid professional knowledge of polymer materials and battery technology. 

  • 5 years+ experience in technical support, application development or process engineering related to battery industry, candidates with experience in PVDF binder, separator coating materials or battery electrode manufacturing are preferred. 

  • Profound understanding of PVDF material properties, battery binder application principles, separator coating processes and related performance testing standards; Familiar with battery manufacturing process and material matching requirements. 

  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and project management skills. 

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills to interact with customers and internal stakeholders with strong influencing skills. 

  • Good document summary and technical presentation skills. 

  • High motivation and team work spirit. Strong sense of responsibility. 

  • Fluent in written and spoken English

  • Willingness to accept frequent business trips within China
