We are looking for:

  • The Legal Counsel will provide corporate and commercial law support to the business operations of Syensqo in Greater China. The Legal Counsel will have direct client contact and is expected to independently advise business professionals in the execution of a variety of commercial transactions in a manner to achieve business goals while protecting the company’s interests.

  • A solution oriented, self-motivated, analytical, commercially minded and practical legal talent with good team spirit.

 

We count on you to:

  • Analyze and advise on a broad range of legal and business matters with respect to clients’ business strategies, commercial arrangements, manufacturing operations and marketing plans.  

  • Provide legal support on various legal matters, e.g. corporate governance, disputes and regulatory, employment related issues, compliance, etc. 

  • Support the business activities and contract management, including negotiating and drafting of sales, purchasing, distribution and tolling agreements

  • Identify legal issues in normal operational business activities, and provide solution oriented legal opinions to advance the interest of company with the risks under controlled

  • Assisting with various projects such as M&A, JV, divestment, and liquidation, as well as ad hoc projects as assigned

  • Participating in the development of legal training programs and providing legal training on various legal subjects

  • Where authorized, engage, coordinate and manage outside counsel.

You will bring:

  • A law degree from a well-respected, accredited Chinese university

  • Successful completion of the Chinese Bar Exam

  • 5+ years at a law firm and/or as in-house counsel in an international working environment, with a focus on corporate/commercial projects in China

  • Strong transactional experience

  • Strong customer orientation, independence, initiative, decisiveness, research and analytical skills, and excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • Project management experience and ability to work in cross-functional teams

  • Fluency in English

Additional information:

  • An additional degree in international commercial law or LLM degree from an accredited overseas law school or from a well-respected university, and US Bar would be a plus. International work experience is a nice-to-have point.
