Agro Formulation Manager (F/M/X)

Role and Responsibilities

Syensqo P&C Agricultural Specialties develops innovative and sustainable solutions for crop protection formulations and seed treatments, contributing to lower environmental impact and better resource management. Our portfolio includes seed coating solutions and sustainable co-formulants for crop protection applications. 

The Seed Care Laboratory, based in Méréville (Essonne, France), focuses on the development of seed-applied solutions, primarily seed coating products. The Agro Formulation Manager will be part of the Seed Care R&I team and will lead one of the two teams responsible for developing new Syensqo seed coating formulations. The role combines R&I project leadership, people management and laboratory management, with the objective of delivering innovative Seed Care solutions aligned with the business and innovation strategy. 

Success in this position requires strong scientific and technical leadership, the ability to manage multiple R&I projects, develop and empower the team, contribute to translating market and customer needs into relevant innovation projects. 

The role operates in an international and highly collaborative environment, working closely with Syensqo’s Business, Marketing, regional P&C R&I beyond Seed Care lab and Manufacturing teams but also with many raw material suppliers and customers. 

We’ll count on you to: 

• Lead R&I projects for the development of new and improved seed coating formulations, from concept and raw material selection through formulation optimization and technical validation on seeds.  
• Drive scientific understanding and formulation development, establishing relationships between raw material properties, formulation composition and performance, and developing robust experimental and screening methodologies.  
• Build strong technical relationships with raw material suppliers and proactively scout new materials and technologies that can enable higher-performing, more robust and sustainable seed coating formulations.  
• Translate market, customer and Business needs into experimental strategies and development plans, prioritizing studies and team resources to ensure timely and robust delivery of Seed Care innovation projects.  
• Collaborate across the global Agro R&I community and cross-functional teams, including regional laboratories, Business, Marketing and Manufacturing, to share best practices, align stakeholders, manage project phase transitions and support industrialization.  
• Lead and develop a team of two formulation technicians, providing technical guidance, developing skills, fostering autonomy and ensuring effective project execution.  
• Ensure laboratory operational excellence, maintaining high HSE and Quality/ISO 9001 standards, reliable experimental data and continuous improvement of laboratory processes, equipment and ways of working. 

Experience and Skills

You will bring : 

• Master’s degree, Engineering degree or PhD in Chemistry, Formulation Science, Physical Chemistry or a related field. 
• 3–5 years of experience in R&I, with a strong scientific background in formulation development. Experience in polymers, coatings, dispersions, inks, paints, adhesives or agrochemical formulations would be a plus. 
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple short- and long-term projects. 
• Strong leadership and customer orientation, combined with a proactive, dynamic and solution-oriented mindset. 
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with scientific rigor and the ability to synthesize complex technical topics and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders in a multicultural environment. 
• Professional proficiency in French and English. 

What We Offer

You will get: 

• The French annual base salary reasonably expected to be paid for this new hire is €50,000 to €75,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, qualification and internal equity and can ultimately be more or less than the posted salary range.
