Internship – R&I Engineer, Life Cycle Assessment and SSbD

 

Context:

  • Internship within the Process Research Department, based at the Lyon research center

  • Part of a team responsible for the economic and environmental assessment of future processes still at the research stage

  • You will actively contribute to the deployment of the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) approach within the group

 

We are looking for:

  • An engineering intern specializing in chemical engineering/process engineering and/or life cycle assessment in their final year of studies (M2). You will join our techno-economic and environmental analysis team to help improve our methods and tools.

  • The objective is to support the team in deploying the SSbD approach within Syensqo.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting a literature review on green chemistry indicators (PMI, RME, etc.) and their industrial application

  • Calculating these indicators for case studies from the Syensqo portfolio

  • Implementing and using the Simapro tool to carry out life cycle assessments (LCA)

  • Analyzing and summarizing environmental impact results for different processes and products

  • Collaborating with TEA and LCA engineers to propose improvement opportunities and contribute to the deployment of the SSbD approach

  • Presenting your results and recommendations to the team

You will bring:

  • Master’s level student (Bac+5) in chemical engineering/process engineering and/or life cycle assessment

  • Ability to conduct a comprehensive literature review

  • Critical analysis and reasoning skills to identify key parameters

  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively in both French and English

  • Autonomy, rigor, curiosity

Additional information:

  • The internship should last 4–6 months
