Job Overview

The Tax Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing all tax compliance activities for the Group’s Italian entities, ensuring full respect of regulations, accurate tax reporting, and providing strategic support to business functions. This role coordinates tax compliance, tax reporting, management of tax credits, audits, and support for extraordinary transactions, while liaising with external advisors, auditors, tax authorities, and global teams. The position reports directly to the Country Accounting Director Italy, with a dotted line towards the Country Tax Manager.

 

Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Regulatory Obligations

  • Review and validate calculations for direct taxes and ensure support to the accounting managers with indirect taxes.
  • Define and communicate advance and final payments for direct taxes (IRES & IRAP).
  • Prepare, review, and submit tax returns (operating companies, holding companies, tax unit), including via electronic systems.
  • Plan and complete the review by the Group or Statutory auditors of tax filings.
  • Manage compliance for the national and worldwide IRES tax consolidation (CNM).
  • Oversee and optimize tax credits, refunds, and offsets.
  • Ensure correct application of withholding taxes on dividends, interest, and royalties, including verification of conditions for international treaties (DTTs, EU directives).
  • Manage the preparation process for anti-hybrid dossiers, coordinating activities with consultants to ensure full tax compliance.
  • Maintain and organize tax documentation and audit files.

 

Tax Reporting & Planning

  • Quarterly and annual review of tax forecasts for Group reporting; manage audit phases with external auditors.
  • Prepare tax forecasts and budgets (tax cash-out, 4/5-year projections).
  • Provide country-level tax analysis and reporting to the Group.
  • Implement and update IT tools for tax management.

 

Audit Management & Liaison with Authorities

  • Support during tax inspections, including preparation and provision of documentation and working files, in collaboration with accounting managers and the Country Tax Manager.
  • Analyze and execute any necessary adjustments or corrections to tax filings and payments.

 

Strategic Advisory & Support for Extraordinary Transactions

  • Support tax planning for extraordinary transactions (M&A, reorganizations, liquidations), including simulations of tax impacts in Italy, in close coordination with the Group Tax Reporting function & Country Tax Manager.
  • Analyze the impact of legislative changes and the annual budget law on business activities.
  • Evaluate tax opportunities (incentives, credits) and risks through simulations and benchmarking.
  • Support the review of tax aspects in contracts, investment projects, and cash/debt/dividend planning.
  • Coordinate with global and regional functions to ensure alignment with international frameworks (e.g., CBCR, Pillar 2, Transfer Pricing).

 

Training, Procedures & Continuous Improvement

  • Draft and update internal tax procedures, continuously seeking improvements and exploring opportunities offered by GenAI.
  • Organize and participate in training sessions on tax developments.
  • Organize activities within the scope to ensure efficiency and compliance with deadlines.

 

 

Requirements

  • Degree in Economics, Law, or related fields; qualification as a Chartered Accountant is preferred.
  • 3/5 years’ experience in the tax area, preferably within multinational environments or consulting firms.
  • In-depth knowledge of Italian and international tax regulations (including OECD principles, Pillar 2, CBCR, Transfer Pricing).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and priority management skills.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coordination, and teamwork skills within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a dynamic, multinational environment.
