The DCS Process Control Engineer is responsible for promoting the use of regulatory control systems to automate unit operations, with the goal of improving quality, safety, efficiency, and production capacity at the Marietta, OH site. The ideal candidate will collaborate effectively with both internal and external departments, especially unit maintenance and operations teams, and must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety.

  • Promoting the utilization of regulatory control schemes to increase the automation of the unit to improve quality, safety, efficiency, production capacity, and reduce manual intervention.
  • Developing and documenting new strategies to troubleshoot instrumentation, diagnose operational interruptions, and maximize overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Working with unit operation team and process engineers to identify and implement new ways to increase product yields, reduce energy usage, and optimize the value of byproducts
  • Coaching/training operations and other technical personnel on the concepts and use of control strategies.
  • Generating new control strategies or instrument utilization projects which improve unit operations.
  • Working in a team environment with other Process Control Engineers to maintain the overall site control system hardware, software, servers and network switches.
  • Maintaining relevant engineering documents and drawings, e.g. PFD, P&ID, operating, maintenance, startup, commissioning, ESD philosophies, Cause& Effect, PHA’s (HAZOP/LOPA), Fire & Gas detection, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, control & logic narratives, Instrument panel layouts, control room layouts etc.
  • Supporting engineering, management and construction teams and other engineering disciplines on instrumentation and control issues
  • Coordinating control system integration of Advanced Process Control projects
  • Process control algorithm development, prototyping and implementation
  • PID tuning and implementation

You will bring: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred. Candidates with other degrees who have a background in process control skills will also be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience working as a process control engineer.  The successful candidate will have experience in a Distributed Control Systems.
  • Requires familiarity with Honeywell Experion OR Emerson Delta V Live systems, as well as networking technologies like DeviceNet and Ethernet IP.
  • The ability to write and maintain various scripting languages and develop S88 compliant batch programs is desirable.
  • Experience in the continuous process simulation development and associated studies in order to test control strategies.
  • DCS configuration and control skill level with developing configuration and programming for new processes and control strategies

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $88,480 to $110,600 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
