The Mining Technical Service and Development (TS&D) team’s role as a part of the commercial organization is focused on industry-leading technical selling capability development and execution; rollout of product and service innovations; and troubleshooting and technical support for our customers’ most challenging needs.

Expectations of (Senior) Metallurgist the Applications Technology Team:
• Mineral Processing Flotation Application Expertise. A strong base of sulfide flotation application knowledge, and drive to keep learning, especially in Cu, Cu/Mo, and polymetallic applications. Application of this experience to drive new product development and commercialize sales of new products and sales to new customers;
• Analytical Thinking. Ability to assess technical projects and product applications, asking the right questions and identifying gaps to support efforts of the subject matter experts in developing solutions;
• Results Orientation. Drive results -- both directly through your work but also through significant interaction with the sales, regional TS&D, R&I and product management teams. Demonstrate an urgency in your work to keep projects moving forward in areas that we can control;
• Collaboration & Communication. Effectively communicate and work with people across the organization. Understand and discuss when there needs to be tradeoffs between competing priorities and focus on team-wins rather than individual success. Use systems and tools to communicate across the organization.
Activities of the Role:
• Customer operational auditing to provide base technical service; identify improvement opportunities; lead problem solving of technical issues involving our products (chemistry and operational related issues);
• Identify areas for operational or reagent scheme improvements and partner with customers and account managers to evaluate and implement changes;
• Work with the regional team to assess the technical and commercial chance of success and opportunity size of business opportunities. Assessment will include understanding how our technology fits with the customer’s needs, potential value it can provide, and the customer’s willingness to share the value.

• Skill development in application testing, plant trialing, data analysis along with development of technical selling practices.
You will bring:
• 5-7+ years experience in mining specialty chemicals applications. Experience in sulfide flotation applications preferred;
• Engineering or chemical related Bachelors of Science Degree, preferably Mining, Metallurgy, Materials Science or Chemistry related;
• Results orientation and proactive approach to organizing and getting work completed to meet deadlines. Effectiveness in influencing others and driving results through indirect reporting teams and peers you work alongside;
• Ability to consider long-term objectives and develop systems for people development and effectively sharing organizational knowledge to strengthen the team’s capability to maintain our Technical Service advantage into the future in all markets.

• 60-75% Customer Project Work;
o direct customer meetings;
o Organize and conduct laboratory and plant trials;
o trial and opportunity planning; reporting and sales process support;
o professional conferences and seminars, customer training programs;
o Lead and/or support technical projects.
• 25-40% Internal Management and Organizational Development
o reporting, team meetings & calls;
o internal training/development;
o meetings with R&I, product management, etc.;
o meetings with direct reports and commercial teams on customer projects.
