The Global Trade team supports Syensqo businesses in navigating an increasingly complex and evolving international trade environment, enabling compliant and efficient cross-border operations. The team provides expertise and solutions across key Global Trade domains, including Customs Classification, Non-Preferential Country of Origin, Preferential Origin and Customs Valuation, while assessing the impact of evolving trade regulations, tariffs and trade agreements on Syensqo’s operations. 

Working closely with Global Business Units (GBUs), Product Stewardship and local experts, the team promotes a consistent and harmonized approach to Global Trade requirements worldwide.

We are looking for a Global Trade Domains Specialist to join our team, combining technical expertise and analytical thinking to translate complex trade requirements and developments into practical solutions for Syensqo businesses worldwide. 

 

We will count on you to: 

  • Perform Customs Classification of products, ensuring accurate and consistent classification decisions.  

  • Assess and manage Non-Preferential Country of Origin, including applicable rules and supporting documentation.  

  • Assess and manage Preferential Origin, including Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), rules of origin and eligibility for preferential treatment.  

  • Support Customs Valuation activities and assess relevant business scenarios with Finance and other stakeholders.  

  • Monitor changes in the global trade landscape, including tariffs, trade measures and FTAs, and assess their potential impact on Syensqo.  

  • Manage Global Trade data and documentation and respond to business requests with practical and compliant solutions.  

  • Contribute to Global Trade guidelines, procedures and controls, ensuring a consistent and harmonized approach across Syensqo.  

  • Provide training and guidance to relevant stakeholders.  

  • Lead or contribute to continuous improvement, standardization, automation and digitalization initiatives. 

 

Desirable Skills/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, International Trade, Supply Chain or a related field.  

  • Relevant experience in Customs, Global Trade or Trade Compliance.  

  • Knowledge and practical experience in one or more of the following areas: Customs Classification, Non-Preferential Country of Origin, Preferential Origin and Customs Valuation.  

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.  

  • Ability to interpret complex requirements and translate them into practical business solutions.  

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in a cross-functional, global environment.  

  • Good command of English; additional languages are an asset.  

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel; knowledge of SAP is an asset. 

 

You will get:

  • The Portuguese annual base salary reasonably expected to be paid for this new hire is: €19,400.00 to €21,900.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, qualification and internal equity and can ultimately be more or less than the posted salary range. The primary location for this job is Portugal; however, it may also be based in other EMEA countries. For other EMEA countries, local competitive salary conditions will apply, in line with local legislation. Information will be provided before your first interview.
