We are looking for:

  • The Release Train Engineer (RTE) acts as the chief facilitator and delivery orchestrator for the Data Release Train, which brings together multiple squads focused on Infrastructure, Data Engineering, and Business Intelligence.
  • This role ensures that the train operates efficiently, aligns to business priorities, and delivers high-quality, reliable, and secure data capabilities that empower analytics, reporting, and digital transformation initiatives across the organization.
  • The RTE will drive Agile at scale principles within the data ecosystem, fostering collaboration across technical and business domains while ensuring compliance, performance, and delivery consistency.

The RTE works in strong collaboration with Product Management, System Architect, as well as stakeholders, Scrum Masters and Product Owners. They are in charge of making the whole train evolve and improve continuously to deliver the best value in the most sustainable time frame.

  • Ensures the aligning of ART activities with the organization's strategic goals.
  • Guides towards Agile Best Practices making sure the ART adheres to its values and artifacts.
  • Ensures consistency for the deliverables across all scrum teams of the train.
  • Enables and fosters close cooperation across all roles.
  • Responsible to organise and schedule the program increments (PIs) reviews.
  • Guides the ART teams and the stakeholders in understanding  their role in the ART.
  • Helps manage ART risks and its mitigations often related with budgeting and productivity.
  • Monitors and reports the train Progress and Commitment.
  • Consolidates ART capacity planning.
  • Promotes and encourages knowledge sharing within the ART.
  • Encouraging teams within the ART to collaborate and meet goals.
  • Promotes ART improvement through inspect and adapt (I&A) events
  • Collaborate with the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) and Enterprise Architecture to align with broader IT governance and transformation initiatives.

 

You will bring: 

Education Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in IT or data-related delivery roles.
  • 3+ years as a Release Train Engineer, Program Manager, or similar Agile leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing multi-squad or cross-functional programs (Data, Infra, BI, Analytics).
  • The position requires good soft skills, especially in: change management, communication, active listening, conflict management, problem identification and decision-making.
  • The RTE should have a solid scrum background, a strong Agile experience and feedback culture.

Technical knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of data platforms, cloud infrastructure (Azure/GCP), and BI ecosystems (PowerBI).
  • Familiarity with DataOps / DevOps pipelines, version control (Git), and automation frameworks.
  • Experience with Agile frameworks (SAFe, LeSS, or Spotify model).

Certifications:

  • SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE), Product Owner certification preferred.
  • Agile certifications (Scrum Master, Agile Coach, PMP-Agile) are a plus.

You will get:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • The Portuguese annual base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this new hire is:  $58,700 to $78,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, qualification and internal equity and can ultimately be more or less than the posted salary range.The primary location for this job is Portugal; however, it may also be based in other countries. For other countries, local competitive salary conditions will apply, in line with local legislation. Information will be provided before your first interview.
