Molecular Science & Spectroscopy is part of the Polymer Characterization Lab (PCL) in Alpharetta, providing analytical testing and data generation in close collaboration with R&I and Syensqo Specialty Polymers teams to enable innovation and support customer and business needs.
We are looking for:
Analytical Chemist to:
Perform routine and complex analytical testing on polymers, monomers, additives, and raw materials using a range of laboratory techniques (e.g., ICP, XRF, FTIR, UV-Vis, X-ray imaging, gravimetric analysis, wet chemistry, titration). Develop and improve methods, maintain analytical equipment, and provide technical support to internal stakeholders while ensuring safe, compliant, and timely laboratory execution.
We count on you to:
• Execute analytical testing using techniques such as ICP, XRF, FTIR, UV-Vis, X-ray imaging, gravimetric analysis, wet chemistry, and titration.
• Prepare samples/standards; follow LTMs/SOPs and document results accurately in LIMS.
• Maintain strong safety performance; participate in audits/meetings and close action items on time.
• Perform preventive maintenance/calibration, support troubleshooting and upkeep of equipment.
• Support internal customers (R&I, Quality, Operations, Marketing, Sales) and other Syensqo labs as needed.
• Write/maintain SOPs, LTMs, and analytical reports.
• Performs 5S and housekeeping duties as required. Routinely maintains and cleans laboratory facilities and equipment.
• Support lab efficiency (supply ordering, backlog reduction).
• Coordinates and/or manages technical activities to improve efficiencies and minimize backlog / workload.
• Trains other team members on use of analytical instruments, methods, SOPs, LTMs, etc
• Train colleagues on instruments and methods.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
You will bring:
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physical Science, or Materials Science.
• 2–5 years of experience in an analytical testing laboratory.
• Experience with polymer/material characterization using one or more of the techniques listed above.
• Ability to perform hands-on lab work on a daily basis, work with chemicals, perform physical tasks including walking, sitting, standing, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, lifting, carrying and transporting objects.
• Method development/validation capability.
• Strong written/verbal communication; able to manage multiple priorities and adapt to change.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with lab operations/management and continuous improvement.
• Strong instrument maintenance/troubleshooting/repair experience.
Desired behaviors:
• Must be self-motivated, organized, detail oriented, and capable of routinely working in a high demand environment.
• Strong commitment to safety, including proper handling of hot objects and hazardous chemicals, to ensure a safe work environment for all.
• Work effectively with others and demonstrate a positive teamwork approach, regularly interface with internal customers.
You will get:
- The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $80,800 to $101,000 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
