Mechanic Helper

 

Job Summary:

The Mechanic Helper is responsible for operating equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Performs all Mechanic Helper’s functions fully and independently with minimal supervision

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Operate basic equip. Sweeper, Forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, rotating forklift 
  • Must practice safe work habits. (Moving & lifting). 
  • Assist mechanics, electricians etc. with machine repairs and P.M.’s
  • Perform daily Rounds of facility
  • Operate Trash Compactor and empty trash cans in support of Production activities
  • Maintain Storm Water Sumps
  • Act as Fire Watch, Confined Space or  Working at Height Stand-By Attendant, when needed
  • Handles and manages hazardous waste. Must take initial hazardous waste training, and annual refresher training 
  • Water treatment
  • Load/Unload trucks with material coming in (Maintenance related)
  • Mounting skills (TV, whiteboards, signs etc.)
  • Drain & prep rolls for shipment
  • Help maintain Boneyard
  • Keep inventory for chemicals used for water treatment
  • Sand  blast parts for Graco
  • Fill oil heaters/hydraulic tanks
  • Assist w/ Safety upkeep (Ice breaking freezers, etc)

 

Ensure all work is to be performed in accordance with the Responsible Care EMS - Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) 

 

Intervene and take appropriate actions on any non-conformance, possible non-conformance, or concerns affecting 1) compliance with any known legal, regulatory or company requirement, 2) Safety, Health, Environment & Security (HSE&S) policies, procedures, or other management system requirements, and/or 3) expectations or needs of other interested parties, and communicate it using the appropriate company process. 

 

Ensure the HSE&S, Responsible Care management Systems requirements are integrated into their organization’s business structure and processes and achieve intended outcomes. 

 

Promote an observable culture of process safety, product safety/stewardship and customer service within their organizational control. 

 

When requested, participate in the development, communication, and implementation of HSE&S and Responsible Care programs. 

 

Communicate and follow up as required on any HSE&S concerns, incidents, near misses, or opportunities for improvement using the appropriate company process. 

 

When requested, lead, participate and/or provide resources for Employee Safety Committee (ASC), Safety Meetings, Incident/Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations, Management of Change (MOC), Process Safety Startup Review (PSSR), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and other related HSE&S, process safety, and customer service activities. 

 

Must follow all MSOP & Plant Safety Rules. Use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). PPE required in this area are KEVLAR GLOVES, LATEX GLOVES, FULL FACE RESPIRATOR, HALF FACE RESPIRATOR, DUST MASKS, & EAR PLUGS. TYVEK Suits are also available for PROTECTION.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Qualified Operator

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, techniques for effectively manufacture goods
  • Knowledge of machines and tools required at each task
  • Controlling operations of equipment or systems
  • Watches gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
  • The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions
  • The ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly
  • Assessing the value, importance, or quality of things or people
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources  
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to quick obtain and maintain competence to work from desktop, laptop or tablet PCs to interface with maintenance management systems (SAP, Neptune) to accurately and effectively document work completed (Confirmations) and where necessary prepare work requests (Notifications)

You will get:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package. The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $28.89  to $35.89 per hour. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
  • 16, or more, weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, according to local regulations

Additional Information:

  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Must have a HS diploma
  • Must be clean shaven for mask respirator masl (no beard, mustache ok)
