Job Title: Project Engineer – General & Mechanical

Location: Anaheim or Orange, CA USA (Onsite)

Reports To: Engineering & Maintenance Manager, CA Cluster

 
 
Position Summary

The Project Engineer will play a key role in the successful delivery of capital projects at Syensqo. This position is responsible for managing project execution from concept through commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The Project Engineer will also serve as a technical subject matter expert, providing troubleshooting support and mentoring to technical maintenance staff to enhance operational reliability and knowledge transfer.

 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management:
    • Lead and coordinate capital projects, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
    • Ensure compliance with Syensqo’s safety, quality, and environmental standards.  Including project & capex excellence guidelines.
    • Manage project documentation and reporting.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Serve as a subject matter expert for process and equipment troubleshooting.
    • Provide technical guidance during project design, installation, and start-up phases.
    • Identify and implement process improvements to optimize performance and reliability.
    • Support maintenance planning for both Preventive and Corrective maintenance activities.
    • Utilize SAP Computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) including relate procurement modules.
    • Solidworks CAD/CAE experience and machine design experience
  • Training & Mentoring:
    • Develop and deliver training programs for technical maintenance staff.
    • Mentor and coach maintenance teams to build technical capabilities and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, procurement, and external contractors.
    • Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders.
  • Compliance & Best Practices:
    • Ensure all projects adhere to internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Promote best practices in project management and technical operations.
 
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Materials, Mechatronic, Mechanical or related field).
  • 3+ years of experience in project engineering, preferably in the chemicals, materials, manufacturing or heavy industries.
  • Proven track record in managing capital projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge and know-how in material transfer and power transmission equipment as found in chemical & manufacturing industries.  Familiarity with industrial automation (Allen Bradley preferred) and robotics desired.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills and experience mentoring technical staff.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety and regulatory standards.
 

You will get:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package. The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $98,720 to $123,400 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
  • 16, or more, weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, according to local regulations
