Technician II – Microscopy Laboratory

 

We are looking for:

A Technician II to support our Microscopy Laboratory within Syensqo. You will be part of a collaborative technical team that partners closely with scientists and engineers to generate high-quality microscopy data in support of research, development, and quality activities. This role is hands-on, detail-oriented, and essential to the day-to-day success of the laboratory, with a strong focus on safety, data quality, and teamwork.

 
 

We count on you for:

  • Preparing samples using established surface preparation techniques, including acid etching, polishing, and sputter coating
  • Operating optical microscopy platforms (Zeiss) to perform analyses such as image stitching/MosaiX, ILR and FB measurements, porosity analysis, fluorescent microcracking evaluation, hot stage and transmitted light microscopy, cross-polarization, and lightfield observations (DF, BF, DIC)
  • Operating scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipment, including backscattered electron (BSD) imaging and EDX analysis
  • Generating accurate, high-quality microscopy data and documenting results in laboratory notebooks or electronic systems
  • Supporting routine instrument checks, basic troubleshooting, and general laboratory operations
  • Working closely with scientists, engineers, and project teams to understand analysis needs and deliver results on time
  • Following Syensqo safety, quality, and operational standards and contributing to continuous improvement activities

You will bring:

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical discipline (e.g., Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or related field)
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in a microscopy or analytical laboratory
  • Experience with surface preparation techniques and optical and/or electron microscopy
  • Familiarity with Zeiss optical microscopy systems and SEM techniques (EDX, BSD imaging) is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, good documentation practices, and the ability to work independently on routine assignments
  • A collaborative mindset and clear communication skills

 

You will get:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $55 to $70K.  Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
  • 16, or more, weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, according to local regulations
