We are looking for:
A Quality Laboratory Technician to provide the analytical support required for the quality control of processes, products, and the environment. Analyze finished products, environmental, and wastewater, and ship samples if necessary. Maintain and calibrate lab equipment.
Shift: M-Fr 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM; On-call and OT as needed
We can count on you to:
Ensure that the health, safety, security and protection of the environment is given the highest priority in all activities performed at the Baton Rouge location

Complete computer-based training to comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements & policies

Review all safety concerns / incidents generated in the database

Submit, electronically, any safety concerns/incidents for review, investigation, and resolution
-
Perform regular inspections for lab equipment and work areas to ensure safety
-
Participate in what-if, PSSR, and RCAs for lab incidents and MOCs
-
Attend monthly site and lab safety meetings
Are responsible to know, understand, adhere to, and champion all workplace quality, ISO, HS&E policies & procedures, including stop work authority to promote:

Finished Product Analysis

Visually inspect finished product samples from three production units
-
Analyze finished product samples per standard operating procedures to determine finished product quality, using HPLC, GC, capillary melting point determination, potentiometric titration, KF titration, FTIR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, thermal analysis, sulphuric ash, colorimetry, freezing point determination, pH analysis, gravimetric analysis, particle size analysis, and olfactory testing analysis techniques

Assess product quality to determine conformity to manufacturing specifications

Input finished product analytical results into SAP, to generate Certificates of Analysis
-
Manage product retention samples
-
Communicate with the Logistics Supervisor to determine analysis priorities and results in a timely manner
-
Analyze customer complaint samples, as needed
Environmental and Wastewater Analysis
-
Obtain outfall pH data from printouts and charts in the Cathyval control building
-
Analyze wastewater treatment unit samples per standard operating procedures to determine compliance with established limits, using ISE and gravimetric analysis
-
Turn on and verify proper operation of the 24-hr flow-weighted sampler for 003 outfall
-
Collect 24-hr composite 003 outfall samples, and take them to the lab for analysis
-
Analyze the 003 outfall samples per SOPs to determine compliance with permit limits, using TOC, BOD, ISE, colorimetry, ICP, and gravimetric analysis
-
Analyze 004 storm water outfall samples, as needed, using oil and grease analysis, TOC, and ICP analytical techniques
-
Track daily and monthly compliance of results to permit limits, and relay results to supervision promptly, so that necessary notifications can be made
-
Input analytical results into SAP

Analyze special samples as needed
Process Laboratory Support
-
Provide analytical technical support to the operators, running routine samples in the process laboratory
-
Monitor process lab instrumentation and equipment for proper operation
-
Analyze special and project samples as needed, using HPLC, GC, potentiometric titration, KF titration, thermal analysis, colorimetry, pH analysis, and gravimetric analysis
-
Train operators to run samples and use the Chemstation software
-
Install a 24-hr composite gas sampling bomb in the tank farm area, and analyze gas samples by GC
-
Participate in call coverage for the process lab
General Laboratory Duties
-
Perform preventative maintenance of analytical instruments per schedule
-
Troubleshoot and repair analytical instruments
-
Maintain calibration records per ISO 9002, FSSC 22000, or regulatory requirements as applicable using good laboratory practices
-
Calibrate all analytical instruments and diluent dispensers
-
Prepare eluents, diluents and other reagents per calibration standards
-
Perform scheduled QA/QC checks
-
Analyze outfall spikes and duplicates per schedule to meet frequency requirements
-
Cross analyze actual samples between the main and process laboratories, as needed, to ensure consistent results and address significant differences as part of the site’s standards check
-
Perform method variability and method detection limit studies
-
Participate in inter-lab testing with other Syensqo AP plants
-
Participate in method gage R&R studies
-
Maintain inventory control of operating supplies, chemicals, and lab ware
-
Order supplies (including gasses), as needed to maintain adequate stock
-
Stock lab supplies and chemicals
-
Perform routine housekeeping of work areas
-
Ship samples as needed, to customers or other Syensqo sites
-
Participate in ISO 9002 / FSSC 22000, customer, and environmental audits
-
Clean and inspect glassware
-
Review and revise analytical procedures
-
Assist in any MOC documents necessary
-
Assist in the creation and revision of any necessary procedures
-
Manage all records of documentation within the AODocs document control system for quality traceability purposes as well as quality files
-
Promote an environment that fosters clear communication, positive motivation, and a desire for continuous quality improvement
-
Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment per plant location specification
-
Work safely and efficiently, following established procedures and proper laboratory techniques to perform assigned tasks

Must be organized, detail oriented, and able to prioritize

Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a team environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

Ability to work in, and adapt quickly to changes and uncertainties

Have strong analytical skills

Excellent computer skills including:

MS Office (with a focus on Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Access)

Google Suite (Gmail, Meet, Calendar, Sheets, Docs etc.)

Knowledge of SAP a plus

- The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $71,500/annually. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
