We are looking for:

An excellent opportunity to be an expert in formulation and materials science with special focus on metal cleaning and conversion coating methods to improve protection of metals. The Co-op will be a part of the Industrial Process Solutions (IPS) market lab and team; and will work under the direct supervision of a senior scientist in carrying out extensive research in metal pretreatment activities to meet sustainable needs.Duration: 12 Months Location: Bristol, PA, United States

We can count on you to:

• Formulation Development:
  
  

• Collaborate with the research and innovation team to formulate metal cleaning and conversion coating formulations.
  
  

• Research and evaluate additives for formulations, considering environmental impact and sustainability criteria.
  
  

• Testing and Analysis:
  
  

• Conduct comprehensive testing on formulated cleaners and conversion coatings to assess cleaning efficiency, paint adhesion and corrosion resistance.
  
  

• Utilize statistical tools to analyze coating performance under different testing conditions
  
  

• Documentation:
  
  

• Maintain accurate and detailed records of formulation recipes, testing procedures, and results.
  
  

• Prepare reports summarizing findings and make recommendations for improvements.
  
  

• Collaboration:
  
  

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists, lab manager, and analytical teams, to generate valuable data for the metal treatment projects.
  
  

• Sustainability Integration:
  
  

• Identify opportunities to enhance the sustainability profile of conversion coatings.
  
  

• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements related to sustainable metal treatment practices.
  
  

• Safety Trainings and Awareness
  
  

• Commit to Syensqo’s safety practices, wear appropriate PPE, and report safety incidents.
  
  

• Participate in safety meetings and routine safety inspections of the workplace

You will bring:

• Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program, such as chemical engineering, materials science, metallurgical engineering or physical chemistry.
  
  

• 3- 4 months of experience working in a chemical lab following all the required safety protocols.
  
  

• Ability to report data in tables and excel/google spreadsheets and write activity reports.
  
  

• Basic knowledge of chemistry and handling chemicals in the lab.
  
  

• Basic knowledge of coatings performance, corrosion, and materials characterization methods.
  
  

• Must demonstrate adaptability to different lab testing. Ability to work in a team environment.
