We are looking for:

  • As a key member of the Global Trade Organization, the Export Control & Sanctions North America Sr. Analyst will report to the NAM Export Controls & Sanctions Manager and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with and monitoring NAM export control and sanctions regulations (EAR and ITAR), supporting US export license management, overseeing classification processes, supporting the implementation of the Group Trade Compliance Program in the region, supporting audit requests and investigatory inquiry responses, conducting training (such as on visitor access controls), providing regulatory analysis on operations and mitigating risks related to other export controls and international trade activities.

  • The ideal candidate will be an experienced operations expert with deep knowledge of U.S. export controls (including ITAR and EAR), the corresponding license filing systems (DECCS and SNAP-R) and the classification process under the USML and CCL. The role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to understand complex regulatory environments, and the capacity to organize license filing and follow-up effectively while ensuring that the company operates in full compliance with international trade laws and regulations.
     

We count on you for:

  • ITAR and EAR License Processing: Support with license management. Given well over the majority of the license applications will be through the ITAR DECCS system, prior licensing experience, including hardware, technology assistance, warehouse and distribution as well as manufacturing licensing agreement experience will be important. Prior defense contractor experience is a plus. 

  • Export Control Classifications: Assist in the EAR and ITAR product classifications.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Assist in overseeing all export control compliance activities in the  United States and Canada, ensuring adherence to U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and other relevant regulations such as OFAC regulations.

  • Policy Development and Implementation: Support in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust export control policies, procedures, and training programs tailored to the needs of the region;

  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Support in conducting comprehensive risk assessments related to export controls. Implement risk mitigation strategies, including classification, licensing and auditing processes.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Support in collaborating closely with the other Global Trade departments and business units, general counsel, supply chain, logistics, and other relevant departments to ensure compliance with export control requirements.

  • Government Relations: Support the NAM Export Controls and Sanctions Manager in  interactions with relevant government authorities in North America, particularly in the U.S., including handling inquiries, audits, and investigations related to export control compliance.

  • Training & Awareness: Support the design and delivery of training programs to enhance awareness of export controls and sanctions compliance requirements within the organization, particularly in high-risk areas.

  • Incident Management:  Support in the investigation and resolution of potential compliance violations, including supporting internal investigations and implementing corrective actions.

  • Monitoring & Reporting: Support in establishing and overseeing the monitoring mechanisms to ensure ongoing compliance with export controls (prior SAP experience is a plus). Prepare and present regular reports to senior management, in particular to the NAM Export Controls and Sanctions Manager, on compliance status, risks, and incidents.

  • Manage and Organize: Support in managing and organizing license filing and follow-up.  Interact successfully with other Global Trade personnel who will help in monitoring license depletion status and the need to file for a new license.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of changes in export control laws and regulations, and continuously support in improving the company’s compliance programs to address evolving risks and requirements.

 

You will bring:  

  • Education: Degree in Law, International Trade, Business, or a related field.

  • Relevant Certification: Such as U.S. Certified Export Compliance Officer or equivalent.

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in export controls compliance, or a related trade compliance field, with a strong focus on U.S. regulations (especially the ITAR and EAR).

  • Management: Proven experience in managing license processing, particularly in DECCS but also in SNAP-R, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of ITAR and EAR regulations and familiarity with Canadian export controls would also be a plus.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex regulatory requirements to non-experts.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of developing practical solutions to complex compliance challenges.

  • Languages: Fluency in English is required.

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $90,000 - $140,000 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
