We are looking for: 

A HSE Engineer to support our Havre de Grace site. Syensqo is on the quest to achieve HSE excellence at our Manufacturing Operations and Research & Innovation site located in Havre de Grace, MD.  This position will apply principles of engineering, environmental compliance, sustainability and safety to guide the Site’s efforts to manage risk and ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace.  The position is responsible for working with all levels of plant personnel. This position reports directly to the HSE Manager.

 

We can count on you to:

  1. Support site specific environmental needs across various media, including, but not limited to stormwater, wastewater, air emissions, waste management, chemical management, environmental due diligence, and carbon accounting.

  2. Establish reliable systems for compliance assurance across environmental topic areas.

  3. Prepare and/or guide the creation of technical reports and documentation required for regulatory submissions.

  4. Perform validations of site permitting and reporting requirements (Tier II, TRI, Biennial waste reporting, Air, etc.) to ensure compliance and comprehensive recordkeeping.

  5. Collaborate cross functionally with internal and external stakeholders; including R&I, Operations, HSE, Quality, Legal, and local, state & federal regulators, etc.

  6. Develop sustainability initiatives such as energy efficiency programs, resource conservation plans, and climate resilience strategies.

  7. Monitor environmental performance of the site through inspections, audits, and continuous improvement programs.

  8. Assure maintenance of SDS Program for raw materials and intermediates.

  9. Maintain monthly environmental and safety metrics for monthly and annual reports

  10. Enforce all environmental, safety, industrial hygiene and loss prevention policies as delineated by chemical group and plant standards.

  11. Perform and/or manage safety equipment inspections/checks as needed

  12. Perform employee and area exposure monitoring as required

  13. Participate and/or lead PHA, JSA, and PSSR’s as needed

  14. Assist Process Safety Management Program.

 

You will bring:

 

  • Bachelors of Science, Engineering or Science

  • 3+  years’ experience working in a HSE role in a manufacturing environment

  • Certification is a plus

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $98,720 to $123,400 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.

  • 16, or more weeks, of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, according to local regulations
