We are looking for: SPC Champion

 

This position will champion SQC/SPC processes at their respective site. 

Initially, this position will be part of a global project team to deploy a Statistical Quality Control (SQC) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) system across all Solvay Composite Materials manufacturing sites.  The SQC/SPC system shall monitor and control the product Key Characteristics (KC’s) and Key Process Parameters (KPP’s) through the deployment of a robust technical system, establishment of Quality performance management, and creation of an enduring SQC/SPC mindset and behavior culture.

Longer term, this position will facilitate management reviews of process capability and drive continuous improvement projects at the site based on SPC reviews.   This SPC champion will be a mentor to site engineering and is viewed as a senior engineering role. 

The impact of this role will improve Customer Satisfaction levels, reduce waste, reduce cost of poor quality, and minimize manufacturing/quality risks that could result in lost revenue, high consequence quality escapes or negative impact to Solvay reputation.

This position will report to the Global Quality Special Projects Manager initially and transition to a site reporting structure within 2 years.  The incumbent will be a part of the SPC project team who has overall responsibility for the project strategy and execution across the entirety of the Composites GBU. 

 

We can count on you to:

  • Collaborate and influence Site Engineering in SQC/SPC processes.
  • Provide project management leadership to drive these improvement efforts and communicate as required both internally (Solvay) and to Customers.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of process/product capability reviews.
  • Collaborate with Customer and GBU personnel to assess and manage changes that could negatively impact quality risk levels; demonstrate a “Quality as a Value” mindset & behavior.
  • Coordinate, provide, and schedule training in SQC/SPC subjects for site personnel.
  • US based positions may handle ITAR and NIST controlled documentation along with Customer proprietary information.
  • Improve customer intimacy and satisfaction.
  • Improve product and product capability.

You will bring:

  • BS in Engineering.
  • Six Sigma certification - Black belt certification preferred
  • Demonstrated use of statistical tools
  • Prior experience managing customer relationships is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Composite, Carbon Fiber, and/or Adhesives
  • Must pass a background check. 
  • US positions must be able to handle ITAR/NIST controlled information.

Desired skills:

  • Experience in Quality Engineering
  • Possess strong, proactive leadership and project management skills to achieve results.
  • Good personnel engagement skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills – concise presentation, easy to read and understand standards and technical documents.
  • Working knowledge of DMAIC problem solving including 8D and FMEA methods.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis – statistical and inductive/deductive reasoning.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma tools – both lean and technical – including value stream mapping, 5S, process control and Measurement System Analysis or Gauge R&R.
  • Good computer skills including Google docs, MS Office, Statistical software (SAS, Minitab, JMP, etc.).

 

 

You will get:

  •  The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $112,000 to $140,000 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
