We are looking for:
We are seeking a qualified DCS Specialist for our Piedmont, SC location. This role is responsible for the configuration, integration, implementation, and troubleshooting of process control solutions for the plant, including both the Distributive Control System (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). Monitors, supports, and improves the plant DCS and PLC systems, the installed applications, and the interfaces to field instrumentation. Works closely with Operations personnel, Process Engineers, Reliability Engineers, Process Control Engineers, and Instrument Technicians. Workflow is varied and often requires urgent resolution. The DCS Specialist reports to the Maintenance I&E Supervisor.

Operational:
- Work with all the DCS and PLC platforms at the plant: Honeywell TDC3000 & Experion, Allen Bradley & Siemens PLCs, and any other automation technologies or interfaces.
- Design, implement, and maintain process control systems and advanced control technology. Identify, diagnose, and correct integrity and data flow issues.
- Gather, select, analyze, and interpret data to understand the impact of changes to the DCS or Safety Instrumented System (SIS); specifically the potential for domino effect problems, loss of view, loss of control, incorrect logic, and the interconnected nature of the systems.
- Provide support for problems related to computer hardware/software issues. Interface with vendors (e.g. Honeywell or Rockwell) when required.
- Design and implement various small projects with engineering input including, but not limited to, graphics, logic blocks, scripting, process trends, and alarms.
- Monitor and optimize the operator Human-Machine Interface as assigned, through individual initiative, and through coordination with Operations personnel. Assist operators when support is required.
- Work with Process Engineers and Maintenance personnel for day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of all control systems at the plant. Support initiatives for alarm reduction and other DCS optimization activities.
- Work with Process Engineers to optimize tuning parameters on PID controllers.
Maintenance:
- Maintain control system backups and routinely check the health of the process control systems. Implement and administer antivirus solutions.
- Maintain system documentation, I/O assignments, and program updates (e.g. maintenance, startup, commissioning, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, control & logic narratives, instrument panel layouts, control room layouts, etc).
- Maintain up-to-date software, firmware, and hardware for the process control systems. Apply patches and ensure the integrity of the systems. Install, set-up, upgrade, and edit programs for these systems while on-line or off-line.
- Develop plans and take the lead role in commissioning, cutover, and start-up of upgrades and patching of all process-related systems. Set-up new equipment and change how equipment is viewed on the DCS.
- Support the long-term process data historian, PI Processbook. Manage point creation, system changes, and software troubleshooting.
- Investigate, repair, and conduct preventative maintenance for plant DCS, SIS, and PLC hardware and software.
- Maintain computers on the Process Control Network (PCN) and related devices. Identify and resolve network issues.
- Guide Instrument Technicians and Electricians in the field to identify equipment malfunctions.
- Manage DCS spare equipment.
- Interpret and implement Syensqo guidelines for industrial control system security.
- Maintain DCS knowledge and coordinate training to maintain proficiency and continual learning, including self-study and webinars.
- Respond to plant needs and emergencies on short notice, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
You will bring:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent (Associate or Bachelor Degree a plus)
- Five years or more of industrial manufacturing experience in instrumentation, process control, or IT (chemical/refinery and/or PSM experience preferred)
- Field instrumentation maintenance experience preferred
- Experience with all or some of the following is a plus: TDC3000, Experion, Siemens and Rockwell PLCs.
- Experience editing PLC or PLC training preferred
- Knowledge of IEC 61131 programming languages (ie. Ladder Diagram, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text, Instruction List, and Sequential Function Chart) and relevant ISA standards (ISA-101 for HMI, and ISA-88 for batch) preferred.
- Proficient in SAP PM/MM modules or other CMMS
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Highly motivated to achieve timely and efficient completion of plant projects and key maintenance activities.
- Ability to develop key relationships with internal customers and service providers.
- Demonstrated effective oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with others in a team environment.
