We are looking for:

Syensqo’s Maintenance Co-Op Program is designed to provide students an opportunity to work side by side experienced Maintenance professionals while gaining hands on experience with challenging, real-world problems at a unique manufacturing site. The program is designed to supplement current and previous course work with work tasks that allow the Co-op to apply and hone what they have learned.  The main goal of this program is to prepare students for full-time employment with Syensqo as a Maintenance Technician after graduation. A successful candidate will work part-time (20-30 hours/week) at our Piedmont site while attending classes.  Opportunities may allow work up to 40 hours/week while classes are not in session. Work hours will flexible based on your class schedule. 



We count on you for:

  • Install, recondition, repair, and troubleshoot various types of mechanical, electrical, and process control equipment throughout all areas of the plant as assigned.

  • Rebuild equipment back to original condition meeting all of the original equipment manufacturers standards and specifications understanding critical clearances and tolerances.

  • Install rotating equipment understanding how to use precision tools & perform laser alignments.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.

  • Utilize all types of industrial shop tools, portable tools, instruments, calibrators, etc. safely and effectively

  • Learn about carbon fiber and other composite material manufacturing, associated equipment, and maintenance best practices.

  • Learn to test designs and solutions in real-life applications.

  • Opportunity to present in weekly team meeting and provide updates on projects as milestones are reached.

  • While attending college full-time, you will work part-time hours prescribed by the Maintenance Supervisor allowing them to be successful in both their classwork and workplace training.

  • To develop your scientific, project management skills and knowledge on methodology.



You will bring:

  • Pursuing a degree in Mechatronics, mechanical or electrical degree or equivalent through Greenville Technical College

  • Possess and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 throughout the program (not just in major)

  • Strong performance, attendance, and academic standing with the Technical Program

  • Must provide and attach current transcript or HS Transcript if now course work GPA is provided.

  • Complete and pass pre-employment screening (i.e. Physical, background check, drug test, and respirator fit)

  • Ability to work safely in a safety sensitive environment

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office application

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be able to use hands/fingers to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place detect and position productivity machinery such as production equipment and computers

  • Must be able to be exposed to and work in a production environment that can experience extreme swings in temperatures both cold and hot.

  • Must be able to stand and walk while working on a concrete floor 75% of the time

  • Must to able to carry, lift, transport and position material weighing a maximum of 50lbs

  • Must be able to push or pull equipment/material weighing up to 100 lbs.

  • Must be able to climb stairs, ladders or balance to ascend, descend and traverse stairs and work platforms to perform work duties.  Must be able to work at heights.

  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch or position self to maintain and position material used in production

  • Must be able to see to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate and assess quality of product produced in production to meet quality standards

  • Must be able to work around hazardous chemicals using a respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
