We are looking for:
A Category Manager who will work closely with Syensqo Business Units (GBUs) in the NAM region and Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) to achieve competitive advantage for Syensqo whilst balancing businesses operational efficiencies and costs. In addition, it will seek to develop and manage strategic relationships with GBUs and LSP at all levels.
The Category Manager will be responsible for improving associated Logistics Procurement and management processes in order to enhance the Syensqo businesses’ customer service performance. This role will manage an annualized spend of over $90 million (USD) and will be reporting into the Overseas and Americas Logistics Procurement Manager. The Category Manager NAM Logistics will be responsible for the development, management, review and implementation of the NAM Inland logistics procurement strategies relating initially to:

ISO tank Rental
-
Road Freight (Dry- & Liquid bulk)

Leasing equipment
-
Rail Freight
-
Bulk terminal storage
-
And other required Logistics services related to NAM Inland logistics
We can count on you to:
-
Manage the sourcing, negotiation and contracting of LSPs in order to meet the NAM regional requirements.

Working with Syensqo GBUs and LSP’s, manage Logistics Projects and provide Logistics expert support to CAPEX projects when required.

Responsible for the proactive communication to Syensqo GBU’s of current and upcoming logistics market changes

Enforce, monitor and evaluate purchasing strategies in relation to stakeholders, internal customers and suppliers.

Work closely with Syenso GBUs / Supply Chains to monitor and analyze logistics data in order to ensure volume trends are, and performance is, in line with agreed expectations.

Responsible for the management of the LSP base (number of suppliers, commercial and performance evaluation, QSE etc) and for ensuring the successful implementation of Logistics Procurement processes.

Responsible for Risk Management (Financial risk, HSE risks, etc.) of selected LSPs in order to ensure on-time and safe delivery to Syensqo end Customers as well as the security of Syensqo products / shipments during transport.. Also responsible for the lead and communication of a Risk Management Action Plan when required.

Ensure that Syensqo’s LSP base and logistics performance meets changing environmental, regulatory and technological changes.

Work closely with Syensqo GBUs to set and agree clear requirements and expectations relating to the Logistics Procurement Team’s and LSPs’ performance.

The NAM Category Manager role provides the opportunity to work at both regional and global levels for a leading Global Chemical Producer.

This position will enable the incumbent to manage relationships across a wide ranging internal customer base and with global and regional external logistics service providers in challenging and ever changing markets. In addition, the Category Manager will gain extensive experience of working with other cross-organisational teams such as Finance and Legal.

Existing influencing, analytical, negotiation, relationship management, maintenance and development, Project management and implementation, global and regional tender management and implementing skills will be improved whilst new skills are developed.

You will bring:

Minimum University Degree level (preferably majoring in Business, Supply Chain/Logistics, Transportation or Engineering).

Minimum 5+ years preferred working experience in a senior/managerial position, in Logistics Sales or Procurement for an international company with strong knowledge of the Americas/NAM region.

Proficient (both written & spoken) in English.

The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $95,000.00 to $140,000.00 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
