We are looking for:
An operations manager to staff, organize, plan and lead overall direction of the production, waste water treatment, and warehouse departments to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Drive Quality improvement by addressing personnel accountability, process and procedural inconsistencies, and equipment failures. Conduct root cause analysis for any environmental releases or personnel injuries. Ensure accurate reporting of information on OEE, Material Consumptions and Incident reporting. Minimize disruptions to the production schedule, while maximizing OTIF and customer satisfaction. Direct and guide the continuous improvement efforts for the overseen departments Manage overtime and labor budget to optimize cost vs. staffing needs. Coach and mentor production superintendents and production specialist. Conduct regular performance reviews and create individual development plans. Oversee effectiveness of departmental training.

Recommend and review capital spending plans to ensure regulatory compliance and improve operating costs or capabilities.

Employee development activities to ensure a motivated, efficient workforce.

Assist with the safety and environmental functions to anticipate potential problems, identify and implement solutions and ensure compliance with applicable safety and environmental regulations.

Manage the departmental budgets to ensure that spending is maintained as approved by corporate management.

Follow all site safety rules and procedures, lead by example.

Develop agenda and lead the site monthly safety meeting.

Evaluate operations department procedures and practices to ensure compliance relating to personnel safety, process safety, and environmental processes with governmental regulations and Solvay policies. These regulations include DOT, EPA (RCRA), and OSHA regulations.

Ensure production and maintenance employees receive all QHSSE training and are properly prepared for normal operations and emergency response situations.

Function as Incident Commander during emergency situations

Conduct periodic inspections to assure compliance to existing safety rules and procedures and to assess the effectiveness and need for other risk reduction activities.

Coordinate investigations of all incidents/accidents that may occur in the production, WWT, and warehouse departments. Ensure all identified corrective action items are completed.

Represent Syensqo, USA through daily actions that reinforce the corporate values; demonstrating personal commitment to a safe, healthy and environmentally sound workplace for employees.

Participate in the training required to fulfill obligations established by law, corporate policy, and site requirements.

Ensure that departmental training programs are carried out to meet all regulatory requirements.
You will bring:

Requires broad knowledge of general chemical and engineering disciplines usually gained through a degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent Engineering or Chemistry discipline, with 7 + years of experience in the chemical industry.

Working knowledge of all Health, Safety and Environmental standards, particularly related to personnel and process safety, air, waste, and water compliance. (SWPPP, SPCC, RCRA, etc.)

Knowledge of RC14001, RMP, RSPO beneficial
-
Working knowledge of emergency response activities and management of emergency response situations. Former Incident Command knowledge preferable.

Working knowledge lean / six sigma concepts beneficial
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as computer skills.

Leadership skills are necessary for directing, motivating, and developing subordinates.

Working knowledge of plant maintenance practices, preventive/predictive maintenance practices, continuous improvement, and efficiency measurement is desirable.

SAP experience beneficial

The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $124,560 to $155,700 per year.. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
