We are looking for:

 

The internship is with the Separations Group within the Analytical Department at the Syensqo Stamford Research & Innovation Center. This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in advanced analytical chemistry while contributing to research and innovation, and customer-driven projects supporting the Polymer Additives and Mining Solutions business units. This co-op position provides broad exposure to an industrial research environment and will involve interaction and collaboration with colleagues in research and development, process development, technical service, and other members of the Analytical department. The student will learn to use state-of-the-art chromatographic and mass spectrometric instrumentation, real-world analytical problem solving, data interpretation, technical communication, and cross-functional collaboration.

 

We count on you for:

 

  • Work alongside experienced scientists in the Separations Group to carry out analyses on a variety of samples using modern chromatographic and mass spectrometry techniques to identify and/or quantitate molecules in complex matrices. Example projects may include the quantitation of additives in polyolefins, and identification of impurities to support raw material qualification.
  • Receive training and develop practical experience with analytical instrumentation and techniques including high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), coupled with advanced spectroscopic and high-resolution mass spectrometry detectors (DAD, CAD, QToF, etc.)
  • Accurately document results in technical reports and communicate results in a timely manner to project teams and scientists.
  • Assist with general laboratory housekeeping, chemical inventory and waste handling, and instrument maintenance.
  • Understand and follow key Syensqo safety policies and procedures.

You will bring:

 

  • Undergraduate students currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemistry or related science discipline (Biochemistry, Biology, Food Science, Physics, Material Science, etc.)
  • Prior experience in chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques is preferred but not required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while thriving in a dynamic, team-oriented environment
  • Dynamic analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach scientific challenges thoughtfully and creatively.
