We are looking for:
The Research Chemist is a key position within the Analytical Department of Performance & Care, based at our research laboratories in Stamford, CT. This position is responsible for performing and interpreting thermal characterization studies to support research, product development, and failure investigations. The Analytical Department collaborates closely with Research & Innovation (R&I) project teams to support new product development, as well as with Technical Service & Development (TS&D) teams to address customer challenges.
This role involves extensive interaction with various stakeholders, including R&I scientists, engineers, application technologists, and TS&D groups, to understand project objectives, address customer needs, and prioritize multiple assignments. Collaboration with other Analytical Department team members is essential to integrate multiple techniques and effectively solve complex industrial problems.

- Perform routine and advanced thermal analyses using techniques such as:
- Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)
- High-Temperature Differential Scanning Calorimetry (HT-DSC)
- Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA)
- Develop and validate thermal methods for new materials and products.
- Interpret and report thermal data to support formulation, stability, compatibility, and performance studies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, TS&D, manufacturing, etc.).
- Investigate material failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Record work in electronic notebooks/LIMS reports and communicate results clearly and promptly with internal stakeholders.
- Perform operation, calibration, and maintenance tasks for thermal analysis instruments, maintaining high standards of accuracy and reliability.
- Ensure efficient execution of daily laboratory activities, including instrument operation, routine housekeeping, and proper chemical waste handling.

You will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or related field.
- 0-2 years of hands-on experience with thermal analysis instrumentation (industry or undergraduate research).
- Experience with thermal analysis software and data interpretation.
- Hands-on experience in thermal analysis instrumentation and a strong understanding of material behavior under different temperature conditions.
- Experience in Polymers & Plastics industry preferred
- Knowledge of other analytical techniques preferred
- Excellent analytical skills with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- High attention to detail with demonstrated scientific rigor and integrity
- Strong intellectual curiosity and proactive approach to learning and discovery
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information
- Collaborative team player who contributes positively in cross-functional environments
