Sr Scientist-Biocides

We are seeking:

• A Microbiologist with expertise in biocides and proven experience in the oil and gas (O&G) industry. In this role, you will contribute to and participate in O&G research and innovation development projects focused on oilfield chemical applications, particularly microbial control and biocide solutions.
• You will interact with customers to build partnerships for new product and technology development, and support Syensqo’s O&G technical and business teams in executing technology development projects.

• Design, conduct, and interpret laboratory tests for developing and improving biocide products and technologies for oilfield use.

• Develop and maintain advanced laboratory testing methods and equipment specific to microbiological and biocide performance in oilfield environments.

• Provide technical support on existing biocide products and technologies, including troubleshooting and optimization.

• Deliver technical support and expertise to customers, addressing microbial challenges in oil and gas operations.

• Preference for candidates with a Ph.D. or M.S. in microbiology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, or related disciplines, with relevant oil and gas industry experience.

• Experience with biocide selection, application, and efficacy testing in oilfield environments is highly desirable.

Desired Skills

• Technical expertise in microbiology, biocide mechanisms, and microbial monitoring techniques.

• Hands-on experience with oilfield laboratory instrumentation and testing protocols for microbial control.

• Knowledge of oilfield operations, including microbial-induced corrosion, reservoir souring, and water treatment.

• Strong customer support and problem-solving skills.

You will get: 

• Competitive salary and benefits package

• The base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position will be $95,000 to $135,000 a year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonuses and/or other incentives.

Additional Information:

• Support the Solvay O&G technical and business teams in executing technology development projects related to microbial management and biocide performance. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and contribute to other stimulation projects to further expand technical expertise.
