We are looking for:
The Utilities Engineer provides technical leadership for the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of the Willow Island utility systems. This position is responsible for improving equipment reliability, optimizing utility performance, supporting environmental compliance, and leading process and capital improvements across site utility systems. The role partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, HSE, and Engineering to drive continuous improvements in safety, reliability, cost, and operational performance.
We count on you for:
- Provide technical ownership and support for all site utility systems, excluding electrical distribution, including wastewater treatment (WWTP) - Ozone Generation/sludge reduction efforts, boilers and steam generation, chiller compressors, equalization/neutralization systems, water treatment and distribution, and nitrogen generation.

Monitor key process performance indicators, identify process deviations, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve system reliability and performance.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, environmental performance, reliability, energy efficiency, productivity, and operating cost.

Develop, justify, and execute capital improvement projects, including scope development, contractor coordination, commissioning, and startup support.

Support Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), operating procedure updates, and completion of process safety action items.

Ensure utility operations comply with applicable environmental regulations and permit requirements, including NPDES compliance.

Lead or support investigations of safety, environmental, and operational incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Serve as acting Utilities Superintendent during periods of absence.

You will bring:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline preferred; equivalent industrial experience will be considered.

3 or more years of engineering experience supporting utilities, manufacturing, or industrial operations.

Experience with wastewater treatment and utility processes preferred.

Knowledge of PSM, environmental regulations, and continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.

Strong technical troubleshooting and process engineering skills

Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance

Root cause analysis and data-driven decision making

Project management and continuous improvement experience

Ability to prioritize and respond effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

- Competitive salary and benefits package
- The U.S. annual base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this new hire is: $88,480 to $110,600. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, such as skills, experience, qualifications, etc. and can ultimately be more or less than the posted salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.

Additional information:
Work is performed in an operating chemical manufacturing facility with routine exposure to industrial equipment, outdoor conditions, and required personal protective equipment (PPE). The position requires regular field presence and participation in an on-call rotation to support plant operations as needed.
