The WWT/Operations Technician has the responsibility to monitor, operate and maintain the plant’s biological wastewater treatment plant and to collect and analyze wastewater samples to ensure effluent quality.

  • Monitors, operates and maintains Waste Water Treatment Unit.

  • Takes immediate action to correct and/or report to the Operations Coordinator when key WWT equipment is not operating properly, when key WWT parameters are in a position where they threaten permit compliance or could cause an off-site odor complaint, or at other times requiring immedate action such as equipment leaks.

  • Monitors and operates Lift Station pump, oil/water separator, equalization basins, biobasins, sludge retenttion basin/tank clarifier, testing treatment equipment, and other related equipment necessary for the operation of the WWT unit within required permit conditions and limitations.

  • Monitors and regulates dike/storm water flow into the WWT unit.

  • Conducts laboratory analysis as necessary or requested for effective WWT operation monitoring.

  • Tracks key WWT parameters on worksheets and computer databases.

  • Adds chemicals such as acids or bases, polymer or hydrogen perioxide to WWT as necessary.

  • Performs housekeeping tasks to keep the WWT unit and its surrounding areas clean; including activities such as painting, weeding, sweeping.

  • Collects and sends out samples to outside labs to monitor WWT performance and verifies compliance with applicable permits.

  • Follow HSSE rules and maintain housekeeping standards.

  • Report all safety incidents and near misses and participate in investigations

 

 

 

  • The Operator must be physically able to perform work such as moving portable pumps, filters and other equipment including hoses, fittings, containers of treatment chemicals, pallets, samples, tools etc., up to 55 pounds, and other tasks typical of a Wastewater Operator.  He/she must have the mental dexterity necessary to accomplish a multitude of tasks safely and effectively including loading sludge trucks, running analytical tests and making adjustments to equipment.  The Operator must be able to recognize unusual conditions, reason out the cause and use good judgment in being able to deal with them safely and ensure the system operates in compliance with the site wastewater discharge permit.  

 



You will bring:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent (college or tech school preferred)

  • Wastewater Operator Class III State Certification      

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Good computer skills with working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word & Excel

  • Competent on or able to learn SAP system

  • Able to safely operate a forklift truck for material handling

  • Must understand the plant waste handling and shipping requirements (RCRA)

  • Understanding of safe work practices, Process Safety Management, permit to work systems, management of change and safety & environmental regulations.

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with other site departments

  • Able to facilitate efficient cooperation between departments

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and react to changing priorities

  • Ability to assess, prioritize and resolve shipping issues

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $XXX,XXX to $XXX,XXX per year (optional: $XX to $XX per hour). Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
